Job Description:

  • Are you ready to embrace the unique opportunity of living and working on a station while making a meaningful impact on children’s education and contributing to the station’s daily operations? 

  • We are seeking a Home Tutor to supervise and support 4 children enrolled through Capricornia School of Distance Education. The children will be completing Prep, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 7.


Located in Central Queensland, 86km’s west of Rockhampton, Comanche Station is home to approx. 7,000 head of cattle at any given time.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily school lessons and educational programs, ensuring adherence to the curriculum.

  • Maintain contact with teachers via phone, email, and reporting systems, providing feedback to parents and liaising on student progress.

  • Plan and prepare lessons, encouraging extracurricular activities such as sports, art, and science.

  • Provide childcare outside school hours as needed when both parents are working.

  • Maintain a child-safe environment and ensure the schoolroom is clean, tidy, and safe.

  • Assist with tasks including cleaning, washing, supplementary feeding, and other duties as directed by management.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain personal equipment in good condition.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in tutoring or distance education is an advantage.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated interest in arts, crafts, and extracurricular development.

  • Computer literacy and attention to detail.

  • Current Drivers License

  • A practical, resourceful, and safety-conscious approach to all tasks.

  • Working With Children Check (QLD blue Card required).
