Job Description:
We are currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Hand for our Aronui Feedlot, 20km north of Dalby and 3 hours west of Brisbane, the main purpose of the position is to assist in the day to day operation of feedlot maintenance.
The position includes operating and maintaining machinery, water maintenance, fabrication, and welding. The role also includes assisting the maintenance manager in preventive maintenance and ensuring pen surfaces are well kept, meeting animal welfare standards.
Aronui is the oldest commercial feedlot in Australia. It was established in 1964 and purchased by AACo in 2002. The Feedlot is situated on a basalt ridge near Dalby in Queensland and is fortunate to draw its water supply from underground bores in the Great Artesian Basin.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Daily scraping of pen surfaces
Pushing manure in fence lines
Carting manure to stockpiles
Mechanical repairs and maintenance of Feedlot, Feedmill, Farm equipment and Vehicles.
Ensure workplace health and safety procedures are maintained.
Maintain efficient workshop by keeping floors, benches and equipment clean and serviceable.
Work according to a Maintenance Program for all vehicle, plant, and machinery.
Undertake regular services and over- hauls, and complete repairs and maintenance using, where necessary, power tools, welders, and air tools.
Fabricate, weld, and assemble structural metal products.
Work to tight tolerances
Joint responsibility for ordering all spare parts, oils, and fuels for the feedlot.
Operate machinery when required.
Assist with general maintenance of buildings and station structures, including performing routine daily checks and services of equipment.
Assisting in production and manufacturing of lick blocks.
Assist with livestock crew, when necessary, with animal health and processing.
Job Requirements:
Current Drivers Licence (Heavy vehicle licence where applicable)
Ability to work both alone and as part of a team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to organise/prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, whilst working under pressure
Mature and rational approach to problem solving
Flexibility - able to meet changing requirements
Initiative - ability to take quick action when required and actively pursue opportunities to make further contributions
Teamwork - ability to work with other people towards a common goal, establish effective collaborative relationships with other people in the business
Knowledge of Quality Assurance Programs
Experience with diesel motor vehicles.
Experience in operating loaders, tractors, tipper trucks
Strong structural welding or fabrication with fit out experience (Mig, oxy etc) with the ability to read drawings and follow instructions.
