Job Description:
Based at their 20-thousand-head feedlot in Brinley Park (30kms from Roma), a newly created position for an Assistant Livestock Manager is now required to support the feedlot’s current and future expansions.
Responsible for supervising a livestock team of 14, the Assistant Livestock Manager will be responsible for a broad range of day-to-day livestock handling and processing activities.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Livestock Manager, your duties will include, but not be limited to:
Providing on the job training to staff, competency assessments and competency sign offs
Monitoring work, health & safety standards, ensuring safe work practices are adhered to and that hazards and risks are proactively reported and managed
Ensuring the highest standards of animal health and welfare practices and procedures are maintained at all times
Managing feedlot horse plant including horse assessments/suitability, shoeing, dental, chiropractic, veterinary, feeding & nutrition programs
Completing general maintenance activities including welding, water, cables and basic machinery servicing
Ensuring accurate collection, recording and integrity of livestock data
Identifying risk and implementing strategies to mitigate

Job Requirements:
Detail oriented with a desire to advance their career with an industry-leader, our ideal candidate will have previous experience in feedlot operations and a keen eye for identifying/implementing improvement strategies. To support the wider operation, those with a versatile skillset around machinery operations and a strong mechanical aptitude will be highly regarded.

Strong training / coaching skills and able to lead by example
Extensive knowledge of feedlot operations and cattle handling
Effective communication skills and computer literacy
Safety focused with a passion for animal welfare
Full Australian working rights
Open Manual Driver’s licence
Category A, B firearms licence (or willingness to acquire)
