Job Description:
Are you a skilled cattle buyer with a passion for the beef industry? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where building strong producer relationships and managing supply chain costs are key to success? If you have experience in livestock procurement, feedlot operations, or meat processing and love working on the road, this is your chance to play a crucial role in our livestock department.
We are looking for a Livestock Buyer to join our dynamic team, ensuring a consistent supply of top-quality cattle while maintaining strong partnerships with suppliers.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Procure livestock in line with processing and feedlot requirements within company standards.
Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, feedlots, and other key stakeholders.
Manage and monitor costings, budgets, and yields to ensure profitability and efficiency.
Analyse market trends and identify opportunities to source cattle competitively.
Maintain accurate records of livestock purchases and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Travel regularly to meet suppliers, attend auctions, and inspect livestock.
Job Requirements:
We are looking for a proactive and driven individual with a passion for the livestock and meat industry.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in livestock buying, cattle procurement, or feedlot operations.
Strong understanding of costings, budgets, and yield management.
Excellent relationship-building and communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Positive attitude with a willingness to travel as part of the role.
A solid understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
