Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Bore Runner to join our team in a full-time capacity, maintaining the heart of our operations.


Helen Springs Station, located in the Barkly Tablelands in the Northern Territory, spans an impressive 5,600km2 and serves as a breeding property for up 27,000 head of cattle. Lush green gardens and lawns surround the station complex, which includes a swimming pool and social club. In your down time you might like to visit the nearest town, Tennant Creek. Throughout the year, mustering operations and general station work intertwines with social events across the NT.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Bore Runner, you will report directly to the Station Manager and play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our watering points. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting bore runs to check the condition of station watering points.

  • Maintaining and inspecting water facilities and pipelines to ensure their proper functioning.

  • Providing detailed reports on the health, condition, and welfare of all animals.

  • Servicing, maintaining, and repairing solar pumps and submersible pumps using small generators.

  • Assisting with trough cleaning and fencing repairs.

  • Undertaking general vehicle and workshop maintenance.

Job Requirements:

  • Sound mechanical knowledge of motors and pumps.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely.

  • Good understanding of animal welfare practices.

  • Literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to comprehend operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies and procedures.

  • Ability to record information and communicate effectively in the workplace.

  • Hold a current Class C driver’s licence (Heavy Vehicle licence an advantage or be willing to obtain).

  • Sound horsemanship and motorbike skills (desirable for station hand responsibilities).

  • A genuine passion for Agriculture.
