Job Description:

  • We have an excellent opportunity for a Bore Runner to join our team at Fossil Down station in Western Australia.


Fossil Downs Station spans almost 1 million acres in the stunning Kimberley Region of Western Australia. The property is rich in history and boasts a comfortable historic homestead complex set on the junction of the Margaret and Fitzroy Rivers. The property runs an extensive breeding and export operation with a herd of 25,000 prime drought master cattle. Mustering on Fossil Downs involves helicopters, horses and motorbikes and is centred around low stress stock handling. Located close to Fitzroy Crossing, Fossil Downs really is in the heart of the Kimberley surrounded by many gorges, rivers, and waterfalls perfect for exploring and fishing on days off. The team pride themselves on community and teamwork, where all team members play an integral part in the successful running of the station.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Station Manager, your key duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Carrying out bore runs to check station watering points;

  • Maintaining water facilities and pipelines;

  • Reporting on the health, condition and welfare of all animals;

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing solar pumps and submersible pumps with small generators;

  • Trough cleaning & fencing repairs;

  • General vehicle and workshop maintenance; and

  • Training will also be provided for further responsibilities.

Job Requirements:

  • Sound mechanical knowledge of motors & pumps, electrics & plumbing;

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;

  • Literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to comprehend operational and safety instructions, and related rules, policies and procedures;

  • Ability to record information and communicate effectively in the workplace;

  • Hold a current Class-C Drivers Licence;

  • A genuine passion for agriculture, looking after livestock, and station life.
