Job Description:
We have a full-time position available for a Farm Overseer to join our operations at Buena Vista situated in Upper Manilla, NSW.
The Farming Overseer manages the irrigated and dryland farming operation at Buena Vista, which principally are crops for Fodder and grain.
Nestled in the beautiful landscape of New England, NSW, Buena Vista spans approximately 1918 hectares and is situated in close proximity to both Manilla and Tamworth. This property boasts a stunning creek running through it and is home to up to 6000 cattle. Buena Vista plays a pivotal role in supporting Hancock Agriculture's other backgrounding properties with a dedicated focus on infrastructure, animal welfare, and growing fodder for 2GR Wagyu cattle.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
The Farming Overseer manages the irrigated and dryland farming operation at Buena Vista, which principally are crops for Fodder and grain. The Overseer role is responsible for actively participating and leading team members as well as involvement and ownership of planning and promoting systems, procedures and policies that enable the company to achieve its performance objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
Promote a positive health and safety culture.
Manage the farm day to day operations
Understand and manage budgets and activity costings
Identify risks and implement strategies to ensure production goals are met
Recruit, retain and develop staff.
Induct new staff and ensure compliance with company policies
Undertake livestock programs and support biosecurity measures
Support and manage cattle operations as required
Oversee cattle operations in the absence of the Operations Manage
Plan, manage, and implement operational maintenance programs
Ensure maintenance meets quality and legislative standards
Comply with environmental and natural resource management programs
Manage pasture optimization, water resources, weed/pest control, etc.
Job Requirements:
At least 2 years’ experience farm leadership experience
Competency in all tasks reasonably required.
Working towards a Diploma of Agriculture and/or a Diploma of Agribusiness Management or equivalent (desirable)
Firearms licence (Class A and B)
Chemical user’s accreditation
