Job Description:
We have an opening for a Station Hand to join our operations in the Pilbara. This role offers a great opportunity to join an exciting, industry leading Agribusiness.
ABOUT THE PROPERTY
Covering over 900,000 acres, this station has an average carrying capacity of 6,000 head of primarily Droughtmaster and Santa Gertrudis cattle which are mustered by helicopters, motorbikes and side by side buggies using the best low stress stock handling techniques. In a friendly, inclusive and respectful work environment, all team members are valued and play an integral role in the successful and smooth running of the station during an exciting re-building phase for the iconic property.
Just an hour out of Newman and with several other pastoral stations nearby, staff have lots of opportunity to upskill with various training courses offered during the year. Karijini National Park is just up the road and the Fortescue River runs through the station offering lots of camping and recreational. The Roy Hill team can join local sporting teams and catch up with the neighbours. The team also regularly attends and supports the local horse events races, industry forums.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Station Manager, your key duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Mustering cattle using motorbikes
Attending to all facets of cattle husbandry and processing
Carrying out general station maintenance and repairs - including fencing & welding
Undertaking general vehicle & machinery operation and basic maintenance
Assisting with land and environmental management practices
Ongoing training will be provided.
Job Requirements:
Experience in the movement, handling and processing of cattle, using calm methods with the advantage of digitalised communication, improved weaner cradles, cattle crushes and yard shading
Sound motorbike skills
Fencing, stock water and general maintenance skills
Competent operation of various station machinery/equipment and carry out basic maintenance
A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely
Good understanding of animal welfare practices
Ability to record information and communicate effectively in the workplace;
Hold a current Class C driver’s licence (truck licence an advantage, or be willing to obtain)
Hold a Motorbike Licence (preferred or be willing to obtain)
A genuine passion for Agriculture.
