Are you excited by the idea of living and working on a cattle station in a remote, picturesque location? We have the perfect opportunity for you!
We have an exciting permanent opportunity for an energetic Boreman/Caretaker Couple to live at Laurel Downs Station. This role would suit a couple, one role being a Bore Runner and the other role as Caretaker of Laurel Homestead.
Laurel Downs Station is located 30km west of Fitzroy Crossing and is an out station which is part of the Jubilee Downs aggregation. Jubilee Downs Station stretches across 220,000 hectares in the West Kimberley. Half the property is black soil river frontage, and the other half is red pindan. Jubilee is running 11,500 head of beautiful high quality Droughtmaster cattle.
Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
The Bore Runner role is full-time, and they would be responsible for:
Monitoring and maintaining livestock waters.
Maintaining and servicing pumps.
Maintaining fences.
Observing stock, reporting any issues to management.
Livestock handling.
Putting out dry season supplement throughout the year along with wet season.
The Caretaker role is part-time (approx. 25 hours per week) and they would be responsible for:
Keeping the homestead, small surrounding station accommodation and complex clean and tidy.
Maintaining the garden, mowing, edging, trimming etc.
**Please note that these positions are permanent roles so are not suitable for people on short term /working holiday visas**
Job Requirements:
Strong attention to detail.
Solar, electric submersible and mono bore experience (not essential but desirable).
Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices and animal welfare at all times.
Experience with cattle animal husbandry.
HR, HC licence.
Machinery experience (grader, loader, telehandler).
Initiative and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
Possess sufficient fitness level to carry out required tasks
Pass a National Police Clearance and pre-employment medical assessment.
