Job Description:

  • Based at our office in Bibra Lake, Perth - you will be at the forefront of the breeding process and will be involved in activities such as grain sample processing, sampling inventory management, conducting physical quality assessments, and preparing seeds for crucial field trials. 

  • The position encompasses a range of responsibilities, requiring planning, coordination, and hands-on execution.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • This role will at times will require some travel and overnight stays while completing field work, all accommodation and meals are included. 

  • Additionally, you will be involved in gathering in season data from various field sites to provide support during harvest activities. You will work as part of a team and often supervise seasonal staff. 

  • You will also collaborate across teams for effective and efficient workflows across the business. 

  • With experience, training, and mentoring, you will be able to undertake independent decision- making and execution of key tasks. 

  • The role reports to the Wheat Lead Technician, working as part of a dynamic team and interacting frequently with our plant breeders.  

Job Requirements:

  • Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, and adept in planning, organising, effective time management to complete tasks within tight timelines. 

  • Computer literacy, particularly excel. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication. 

  • A degree in agriculture, plant science or a related discipline would be advantageous.

  • Research conducted at university or in other settings is considered highly desirable, as it provides a foundational understanding relevant to this role.

  • Team player who can also act independently. Adaptive learning with a desire to try new tasks. 

  • Agricultural chemical proficiency is helpful, although on-the-job training and certification will be provided. 

  • Must possess driver's license - heavier class license is a bonus.
