Job Description:
We have an opportunity for a permanent Livestock Manager on our property 'Darling Plain' to start mid-December 2024.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
This property has had much water and fencing improvements added in the past four years to improve ease of management.
All stock movements are assisted mostly with a side-by-side. Horses and a team of dogs are optional.
Rotational grazing is employed to restore hydrology, maintain wildlife habitat and promote maximum photosynthesis. You will be making decisions about where and for how long for, these decisions will be made in consultation with the owner.
You will be responsible for maintenance and necessary improvements of fencing and water infrastructure, plant and equipment
Have experience in operating machinery
Be willing to keep easily accessible records of stock movements, rainfall and day to day operations
Assist with future planning and demonstrate a high level of leadership skills in communication with fellow workmates, key suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders
Maintain the house surrounds
You will work productively with and direct others in this role
Job Requirements:
A demonstrated understanding of and keen interest in the principles of low-stress-stock-handling a must with most of the focus being on the breeder herd.
A passion for building Natural Capital a must with EOV assessments under way.
A keen interest in local ecology and building biodiversity plus a willingness to keep an open mind and consider new learnings will form a basis for easy communication.
A keen interest in Brahman cattle, being able to draft livestock to satisfy market requirements and competence in all aspects of livestock management and husbandry required to care for a breeder herd are essential.
Happy to work independently and make decisions
Applicant to have current drivers’ licence and gun licence.

A renumeration package will be negotiated and will include a 3-bedroom, insect screened, air-conditioned cottage with established garden, gas, electricity, internet and water supplied.
Attendance of workshops and field days to build knowledge are encouraged.
