Livestock Hand

• Smithfield are currently seeking an experienced Livestock Hand/ Pen Rider at our Smithfield Feedlot near Proston.

• Someone who has a genuine interest in the Feedlot industry and is willing to commit to our mission of producing top-quality beef for our customers. 

• You will be joining a team responsible for the daily welfare and husbandry of the cattle in our care.

• Proston is located 280 kilometres north-west of Brisbane.

Smithfield Cattle Company is a family owned, values driven, cattle and farming operation based in Southern Queensland. Smithfield operates two 20,000 head feedlots near Proston and Goondiwindi, along with various grazing and farming operations.

• Daily livestock handling and pen moves with emphasis on low-stress stock handling.

• Animal health management to meet quality assurance requirements.

• Accurate record keeping with a high importance on data integrity and quality.

• Assist in maintaining company standards of animal welfare and WHS responsibilities.

• Contributing to other areas of the feedlot as required.

• Strong horsemanship skills, own horses suitable for feedlot work plus tack.

• An understanding of animal health and welfare.

• Good communication and organisational skills.

• Excellent record keeping skills.

• Effective teamwork skills.

• Current drivers licence.

• Feedlot experience is advantageous.
