Pakaderinga Pastoral is a family owned and operated Feedlot and Backgrounding facility located 25 kms NE of Kingaroy in SE QLD. With the feedlot currently built to 3125 SCU and backgrounding capacity for 1600 head in bunk fed paddocks, feedlot expansion has commenced to grow to 6425 SCU over the next 2 years.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

The role involves working alongside the current owners to effectively manage their fast-growing feedlot operation and assist the growth of the feedlot asset. You will be responsible for fostering a positive & progressive workplace environment all while actively enforcing health and safety standards across the site.

Your successful leadership will drive cattle performance for clients, maintain compliance, and ensure quality standards are met. This role is critical to achieving our commitment to animal welfare, strong relationships, and development of our people. You will work in conjunction with team supervisors to ensure efficient and accurate processes are maintained daily.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong communication skills are essential as meetings with owners will be undertaken weekly along with regular interactions with consultants, suppliers, clients, and the broader feedlot operations team.

  • Maintain high animal welfare above industry standards

  • Oversee cattle logistics, induction, hospital, and general movements while ensuring compliance with animal welfare and safety standards.

  • Maintain and manage Feedlot Quality Assurance and NFAS requirements alongside Feedlot Administration officers.

  • Ensure strict feeding and batching protocols are followed and commodity levels are adequately maintained

  • Monitor and train a team for high performance across Livestock, Feeding and Maintenance and manage individual performance.

  • Manage and oversee adjoining backgrounding operation alongside feedlot business

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar feedlot management role

  • Growth mindset with extensive understanding of the broader Industry

  • Meticulous record keeping and a keen eye for the finer details

  • Strong understanding of animal welfare and animal behaviour

  • Exceptional communication and team leadership abilities to manage, supervise and develop our people

  • Proficient in the use of feedlot machinery & equipment

  • Progressive mindset to develop and improve current systems and processes

  • A working couple would be considered as other roles are available within the business

Job Benefits

  • Salary package will be negotiated based on individual circumstances and experience, housing and vehicle can be included as part of this package.

  • Pay Guide: $120,000 p.a +
