We’re seeking passionate and experienced individuals to step into the role of Head Stockperson and lead our dedicated team at Glentana Station.
As the Head Stockperson, you’ll be at the forefront, managing stock staff and driving training and assessment programs based on our Operational Skills Framework.
You will ensure that everything runs smoothly, aligning with company policies and hitting targets, all while upholding the highest standards of WHS principles.
Glentana is located in the Central/Southern/Channels Queensland Group and is located 100km west of Springsure.
In this dynamic and ever-changing role, no two days will be alike, duties will include but are not limited to:
Collaborate closely on embryo transfer and AI programs
Operate a range of machinery, including equipment for cropping, grading, and loading
Support management practices aligned with carbon farming and sustainability initiatives
Perform cattle and horse work, ensuring livestock welfare aligns with AACo policy and animal welfare standards.
Plan and implement animal husbandry programs.
Record accurate and timely stock numbers in the company’s livestock information system.
Maintain records in the company’s CMS.
Plan and execute general maintenance and capital improvement programs.
Manage environmental and natural resources, maintaining appropriate records.
Oversee the implementation of AACo’s training program on the station
Supervise and manage station livestock staff.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a station leadership role.
Mechanical knowledge is highly advantageous
Intermediate computer skills (including Microsoft Office suite) – Desirable.
Experience with Stock mate, Livestock recording systems/programs or similar – Desirable.
Experience in cattle herd, pasture and water management & excellent cattle handling and horse-riding skills
Sound working knowledge of all on station activities including bores, fencing, construction, machinery, earth moving, stockman ship.
Knowledge of market specifications and ability to draft cattle according to specifications
Knowledge of Livestock Production Assurance Cattle Care Quality Assurance Program
Excellent leadership, communication skills and a mature and rational approach to problem-solving
Current Driver’s License (Heavy vehicle license preferred)
Firearms Licence (Class A and B)
