We are currently seeking an Overseer for "Providence Station," located in the Sturt Plateau district, 250km southwest of Katherine, NT.
To start in August 2025.
Providence Station is a breeding property that manages approximately 4,500 head of predominantly Brahman cattle to supply the live export market.
The position requires an independent manager to oversee operations and maintain regular communication with off-site owners.
Checking waters as required – every day if necessary.
Monitor cattle condition/health and report any problems immediately
Maintain all pipes, tanks and troughs
Clean troughs as required
Putting out supplementation
Monitor paddock condition
Maintaining fences to a high standard – including spraying regrowth
Maintaining all bores and generators
Maintain generator at house
Grading firebreaks/ fence lines
Maintain airstrip at all times – including spraying anthills
Maintain/grade driveway as required
Maintaining all bikes, cars and machinery – including servicing as required
Record all cattle numbers, in/out and paddock numbers
Record all NLIS movement on database as required.
Keep workshop clean and workable at all times.
Keep lawns mowed and house complex neat and tidy at all times
Record all fuel usage, order fuel as required.
Maintain quarters
Maintain cattle yards
Keep all cattle husbandry equipment/ supplies in stock (tag pliers, vaccine guns, hibitaine, horn spray, trisolfen, compudose gun, dehorners.
Management of wild fires when necessary
Management of controlled burns
Provide end of month report consisting of fuel usage, updated cattle numbers/ agistment numbers, any invoices from town purchases.
Spray weeds around watering points, yards and shed.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Hands on experience in cattle operations
Ability to work independently and also in a team
Experience in the agricultural industry
Good animal husbandry practices
Experience operating and maintaining farm machinery such as tractors, graders, bores and pumps
Proficient in record keeping and organizational skills, including tracking cattle numbers and managing consumables.
An enthusiastic attitude to work, motivated, honest, with ability to work to deadlines
Clean and tidy work habits
Responsibility for the maintenance and care of all farm equipment and structures
Knowledge and understanding of beef cattle production
This position is ideal for a couple or a young family.
A three-bedroom house with established gardens is provided, along with internet and phone plans included.
Salary will be determined based on experience.
