We are seeking a Head Stockperson for Maryfield Station, NT for the 2026 season.

The Head Stockperson is responsible for supporting the Business Manager with the daily operations on Maryfield Station. This is a hands-on Leadership role overseeing all livestock movements, husbandry, welfare and leadership over Station stock staff.

Maryfield Station encompasses a diverse range of agricultural practices including the grazing of large-scale cattle herd, cropping, spelling and feedyard operation. Maryfield Station is just off the Stuart Highway with all-weather, year-round access, only a short drive from Daly Waters and with Katherine a few hours away to the north. Maryfield Station is located on 147,300 hectares and has 15,000AE cattle. 

AAM is proud of our Stock Horse program and allows staff to ride quality horses and compete at local and interstate events. AAM Investment Group is an Australian owned and operated business and manages a range of agricultural assets across Australia. Assets include livestock exchange facilities, beef pastoral operations, mixed livestock and cropping operations, poultry farm operations and timber production facilities.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leading, training and developing a team of station hands.

  • Identifying hazards, assessment and managing risk, ensuring safe and effective daily operations and low stress handling of livestock. 

  • Management of quality station horse plant, thorough knowledge of all aspects of equine- horse health and ability to mentor and train junior staff in all aspects of horsemanship.   

  • Sound experience in leadership of Livestock handling and husbandry.

  • Providing and maintaining accurate livestock records and reports.

  • Provide leadership and mentor to the effective use of Station plant and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Agriculture related field or relevant on the ground experience.

  • Experience leading and managing a team.

  • Low stress livestock handling and commitment to animal welfare.

  • Must have excellent horsemanship skills and experience in training and mentoring staff.

  • Experience with computer systems and recording livestock data.

  • First aid certificate, firearm licence, HR licence, welding/steel fabrication experience highly regarded.
