Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated farm overseer to join our family owned high quality Angus seedstock and commercial cattle business. You’ll be involved in all aspects of day-to-day farm life.  

The role would suit someone who takes pride in their work and thrives in a hands-on environment.

Property Description

Spanning several properties dedicated to high quality angus cattle production with fodder cropping and pasture improvements, employing ten staff. The properties have very good infrastructure, are well watered with river frontage and bores.

The property for this position is undulating with slopes and loam river flats.  Rotational grazing is carried out. The property is used for growing out seedstock bulls and also has a commercial breeding cow herd producing feeder steers. 

Fodder oat crops and tropical grasses are grown, with some irrigated silage and hay production.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cattle handling and husbandry

  • Farming of fodder crops dryland and irrigation

  • Repairs and maintenance, fencing and water

  • Data recording and use of on farm management apps

  • Undertaking property improvements

  • Pest and weed control

Job Requirements

  1. A minimum of two years farm experience working in a similar role in Australia

  2. Experience and enjoy cattle handling and husbandry

  3. Use of working dogs in mustering cattle

  4. Ability to repair/maintain fences and water points

  5. Competence in operating farm machinery

  6. General maintenance welding

  7. A current manual driver’s licence with preference of HR Truck license or willingness to get one

  8. Understanding of grazing, forage and pasture management

  9. Reliable and respectful of others

  10. Attention to detail and pride in your work
