Dalyenong Flora Reserve: This is a flora reserve covering about 1,500 hectares in the southeast of Victoria. It is situated near the towns of St Arnaud and Dunolly.

The Round House Reserve: Located 100km north of Melbourne covering an area of 88ha.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

The Reserve Manager plays a vital role in managing the day-to-day operations of Bush Heritage reserves. Reporting to the Healthy Landscape Manager, this role involves practical land management, supporting conservation outcomes, overseeing infrastructure, and fostering relationships with communities, Traditional Owners, and volunteers.

The role is hands-on, dynamic, and key to delivering on-the-ground conservation outcomes. The Reserve Manager will be expected to represent and promote Bush Heritage in the region and will also provide advice to Bush Heritage’s planning, marketing and operations programs to ensure that the goals of the organisation are efficiently achieved.

Job Requirements

  • Passion for conservation and alignment with Bush Heritage’s values.

  • Demonstrated experience in land management, with specific experience in Natural Resource Management (NRM) including biodiversity conservation, pest plant and animal control, land restoration and fire management and suppression.

  • Demonstrated experience and skills maintaining and operating infrastructure, plant and equipment.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects, budgets, and contractors.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience working in remote and isolated environments.

  • Ability to implement Work Health and Safety systems and procedures.

  • Experience working with Traditional Owners and diverse stakeholders.

  • Budget, contractor, and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Good level of computer literacy and proficiency with computers including MS Office, spreadsheet, financial, GIS and data management software

  • Manual driving licence (including 4WD experience or willingness to acquire).

  • First Aid certificate (or willingness to acquire).
