Meacham Contracting is seeking a motivated, self driven individual or couple for the position of Operations Manager, on a large broadacre cropping operation south of Katherine, NT.

Your role will involve driving team productivity and efficiency, Training seasonal staff, Maintaining all equipment ensure all machinery is operating at optimal performance,
Working with the Managing Director on time management to ensure deadlines are met, overseeing current and upcoming work, supervising WHS requirements, and ensuring timesheets, pre-starts, and assigned tasks are completed daily and to the expected standard.
A good component of your work will be solving mechanical issues in somewhat hot conditions.
You will be living and working on a large broadacre farming enterprise south of Katherine, NT.
Assist with the day-to-day operations of a large broadacre farming enterprise, including grain production, forage sorghum for hay, and cotton (seasonal).
Liaise with corporate management to ensure alignment with business goals and reporting requirements.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machinery issues and breakdowns - a strong mechanical background is essential.
Ensure the safe operation of modern farming equipment and adherence to workplace safety standards.
Work effectively and autonomously with minimal supervision.
Safely apply, handle, and record chemical usage in accordance with compliance requirements.
Conduct basic maintenance and servicing of plant, equipment, and machinery.
Operate farm machinery as required during seasonal peaks.
Train and induct seasonal staff and equipment operators to site standards and procedures.
Mechanically minded, with strong diagnostic ability and a proactive approach to ordering parts and preventing downtime.
Proven leadership experience, capable of guiding and motivating a team.
Broadacre farming experience across cropping operations; hay production experience highly desirable (training available).
Extensive knowledge of machinery operation, mechanical systems, and GPS/precision ag technology.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Competent with daily timesheets, pre-start checks, and maintenance recording systems.
Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to quality outcomes.
High level of trustworthiness and professional integrity.
Committed to workplace health, safety, and wellbeing for yourself and others.
Physically fit and capable of performing the hands-on aspects of the role safely.
Hold a valid HC licence (minimum) — MC licence preferred due to road train operation during quieter periods (e.g. hay transport).
Unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
