We are looking for a talented Cook to join the team at Wylarah, which is situated 15kms outside of Surat.
As the Station Cook, Gardener & Domestic, you’ll play a key role in daily station life—preparing four nutritious meals a day for staff, contractors, and visitors, while keeping the garden and surrounding areas tidy and well-maintained.
You’ll also support general domestic duties to ensure the station remains welcoming and well-presented.
Wylarah is located in the Central Queensland group, 15 km from Surat, the nearest service town, and 450km west of Brisbane, Queensland.
The aggregation is made up of six properties; Wylarah, Cadny Downs, Talavera, Newington, Borah and Didgeridoo.
Prepare and serve four nutritious meals daily for staff, contractors, and visitors
Plan menus, manage dietary requirements, and maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and dining area
Maintain staff quarters, amenities, and guest areas to a high standard of cleanliness
Perform general domestic tasks including laundry, bed-making, and cleaning common areas
Carry out garden maintenance—mowing, pruning, watering, and applying chemicals as required
Maintain fences, garden beds, and water supply equipment
Safely operate tools and equipment including zero turn lawn mower.
Support a tidy and welcoming station environment, including rubbish removal and animal care
Follow safety procedures and report hazards promptly
Assist with station functions and contribute to a positive team culture
Current Driver’s Licence
Proven experience in domestic and gardening duties
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions safely and accurately
Strong communication and customer service skills
Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise tasks under pressure
Flexible and solutions-focused with a mature approach to problem solving
A proactive mindset with a willingness to contribute beyond core duties
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when needed
