We are seeking an experienced Senior Farm Hand to join our beef cattle and farming operation in the Midwest area of Western Australia.
You will be responsible for the day to day running of this property during a stage of growth and development, working under the direction of the Farm Aggregation Manager.
Located in the Midwest region of Western Australia, this Wagyu beef operation with 120 ha of pivot irrigation as well as broadacre cropping spans approximately 6,500 ha (16,000 acres) and is close to the coastal town of Dongara , approx. 3 hours north of Perth.
Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will play a hands-on role in supporting daily farm operations across both livestock and cropping activities.
Assisting with cropping and irrigation programs, pasture establishment, and maintenance
Handling cattle movements and all aspects of processing, drafting, and animal husbandry
Fencing, water systems, and general farm infrastructure repairs and maintenance
Operating and performing basic maintenance on a range of farm machinery, vehicles, tools, and equipment
Carrying out general property maintenance and repairs
Adhering to safe work practices and upholding the highest standards of animal welfare and husbandry
Sound understanding of animal welfare and husbandry practices, including artificial breeding and embryo transfer (ET)
Experience in cattle movement, handling, and processing, using calm and controlled low-stress stock handling methods
Basic mechanical, welding, and fencing skills
Knowledge and experience with cropping and irrigation programs
Competency operating various farm machinery and equipment, along with basic servicing and maintenance skills
A strong work ethic and commitment to working safely
Ability to accurately record information and communicate effectively in the workplace
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
A current Class C driver’s licence (truck licence and machinery accreditations highly regarded)
A genuine passion for the beef industry and for working in a peri-urban, rural environment
