We're looking for an enthusiastic Pen Rider to join us at Bottle Tree Feedlot near Chinchilla, and help maintain our high standards of animal care and welfare.
Are you passionate about cattle and horsemanship? As a Pen Rider at Bottle Tree Feedlot, you'll be the eyes and ears of our operation, ensuring our cattle are healthy, comfortable, and thriving. Our operations span across Northern Queensland, with extensive cattle properties, backgrounding operations in Southern Queensland, state-of-the-art cattle feedlots, fully accredited beef processing facility, and global marketing capabilities. We offer a full range of Grain and Grass-fed beef categories and export to over 40 countries globally.
Daily Rides: Saddle up and ride through the pens each day to monitor the health and well-being of our cattle.
Cattle Handling: Skillfully move cattle within the feedlot, minimising stress and ensuring their safety.
Health Checks: Identify and treat health issues promptly, working closely with our feedlot manager and veterinarian.
Record Keeping: Keep precise records of cattle health, treatments, and any issues encountered.
Maintenance: Help maintain and repair pens, fencing, and other facilities to ensure a safe environment for both cattle and staff.
Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly with other feedlot staff to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
You have experience in cattle handling and pen riding.
Your strong horsemanship skills are essential, along with the ability to ride and handle horses within a feedlot setting.
You have a good understanding of cattle behaviour, health indicators, and basic veterinary practices.
You have physical endurance and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a cooperative spirit.
You have sharp observation skills to detect and address health issues swiftly.
You have permanent work rights in Australia - working holiday visas will not be considered.
Your Roster: 10 days on, 4 days off.
Premium on-site accommodation is available (you must be over 18 years of age).
All meals are provided while on duty (if living onsite).
