Job Description

  • This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Machinery Operator and Homestead Helper/ Cook to join the crew at Dry River Station near Katherine, NT to start towards end March 2026.

  • ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Operating experience on one or more of the following: Caterpillar 140G Grader and D7R Bulldozer or 966 Loader

  • Couples or singles applications welcome.

  • Please note these are two separate roles.

Property Description

Dry River Station is a 65,000-hectare working cattle property located 1.5hrs from Katherine in the Northern Territory and is part of the Paspaley Groups strong portfolio of national agricultural interests. The Station runs approximately 5000 Brahman breeding cows producing progeny for finishing at the Group’s flood plain properties along the Mary River near Darwin.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

Machinery Operator:

  • Operating one or more of the following: Caterpillar 140G Grader and D7R Bulldozer or 966 Loader
  • Grading internal station roads, fence lines or operating bulldozers with stick rakes attached.
  • Daily machinery servicing, Refuelling, prestart, greasing 
  • Self motivated person that can work unsupervised

 

Homestead Help/ Cook:

  • Cooking evening meal for Staff 4 to 8 people

  • Keep fridge stocked with cooked lunch meats and salads

  • Moving of sprinklers

  • Mowing lawns

  • General gardening duties

  • Some cleaning duties in staff accommodation

Job Requirements

Machinery Operator:

  • ESSENTIAL: Operating experience on one or more of the following: Caterpillar 140G Grader and D7R Bulldozers or 966 Loader

  • Attention to detail, ability to notice machinery defects before further defects occur

  • Previous Experience Grading station roads, fence lines or operating bulldozers with stick rakes attached.

  • Ability to complete daily machinery servicing, Refueling, prestart, greasing 

  • Self motivated person that can work unsupervised

  • Someone who is willing to assist with some cattle work later in the year would be greatly desirable.  

 

Homestead Help/ Cook:

  • Experience preparing and cooking meals; keeping a clean and orderly kitchen

  • Experience ordering supplies

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work unsupervised

Job Benefits

  • Might suit a couple travelling and need 6 months’ work or longer.
