Job Description

Corfield Downs Pastoral is seeking a motivated, energetic and hardworking Station Hand to join its small, close-knit team for the 2027 season.

  • This is a varied, hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors with cattle and is willing to contribute across all aspects of station life.

  • Working under an experienced management team, you’ll gain practical experience across livestock, broadacre farming, machinery and station infrastructure.

Property Description

Corfield Downs is a 60,000-hectare cattle property with approximately 8,000 acres of cropping, located in the heart of Central Western Queensland.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Muster cattle using two-wheel motorbikes and side-by-sides.

  • Assist with cattle yard work and maintain sound animal welfare practices.

  • Complete daily water runs, clean troughs and service or repair pipes, tanks and pumps.

  • Undertake fencing, basic mechanical repairs and general station maintenance.

  • Safely operate tractors, skid steers and other station machinery.

  • Follow instructions, work safely and contribute positively to the team.

Job Requirements

  • Current manual driver’s licence.

  • Confidence operating two-wheel motorbikes.

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and livestock welfare.

  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in regional Queensland conditions.

  • Reliable, practical and willing to help wherever needed.

  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment and National Police Clearance.

Experience in cattle handling, fencing, basic mechanics or machinery operation is highly regarded. Applicants with the right attitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

About Corfield Downs Pastoral

Corfield Downs Pastoral is a 60,000 ha beef cattle property located in Central Western QLD 100km north of Winton. 

Cattle are grazed on native pastures with Mitchel grass and Flinders grass being the more prominent species. In conjunction with the native pastures we currently farm 2,800ha of forage sorghum for grazing and have plans to expand this to 4,000ha over the next 12 months. 

We are also considering options of legumes such as lab lab and other cash crops in the likes of grain sorghum and chickpeas.
