  • We require a Lead Welfare/ Administration Officer at our Kintilloch Feedlot near Roma, QLD.

  • This is a permanent position and not available to Working Holiday Visa Holders (Backpackers) or overseas candidates. We prefer long term candidates only.

Ironpot Co is large scale cattle backgrounding operation located 75 kms from Roma and 60kms from St George.

Other stations are located in Tambo, Torrens Creek, Winton and St George, Roma. The position reports to the CEO, Chris Skelton who is based in Roma and the Feedlot Manager.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, promptly reporting any signs of illness, injury, or distress to the management.

  • Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian or management.

  • Follow animal treatment protocols as required.

  • Maintain accurate records of animal health, feed consumption, and other relevant data.

  • Assist with the movement of livestock within the feedlot, including drafting, weighing, and loading/unloading.

  • Follow all safety protocols and adhere to animal welfare guidelines at all times.

  • Reporting any pen maintenance to management observed

  • Monitoring cattle and paddocks for health and wellbeing

  • Operation of machinery – putting out hay, carting stock away, scraping pens if needed, loading and unloading of commodities.

  • Setting up yards in preparation of cattle arrivals ensuring troughs and hay racks are full and cleaned.

  • Mustering of cattle to and from the yards.

  • Communicating at all times with staff members and management

  • Keep workspaces and living areas clean and tidy. Presentation of the complex is of the utmost high importance.

  • Ensuring all work practices and processes are consistent and in line with Work Place Health and Safety, NLIS and ALFA.

 

Administration

  • Knowledge of livestock software systems and the ability to navigate.

  • Knowledge of Livestock Junction desireable.

  • Knowledge of NLIS system to complete transfers, movements as required.

  • Completing induction reports and forwarding to management.

  • Completing invoicing as per required and forwarding to management.

  • Overseeing the livestock data boards and updating as required.

  • Assist with NLIS accreditation systems and processes and update as required.

Job Requirements

  • An understanding of beef cattle welfare is essential.

  • A high level of livestock experience and the day-to-day operations of a working feedlot.

  • This job can be physically strenuous at times. During summer you will be working in extreme heat. It is important that you are physically capable of performing your role at Kintilloch.
