Backcountry Wranglers
As a Wrangler and Trail Guide with Banff Trail Riders, in Canada, you will be required to take care of our herd of nearly 300 horses and mules.
The core aspect of your role will be guiding multi-day and overnight tours on horseback, demonstrating your knowledge of the horses, the mountains, and the environment to provide an informative and entertaining experience to guests of Banff National Park.
In addition to this, horses provided to the staff will need training, to various degrees, and you will be asked to assist in their development in the hopes they may be a safe companion for future guests.
Seasonal Contract length: approximately 5 months
Banff Trail Riders is located in Banff, Alberta, Canada, operating within the stunning Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies.
The company is uniquely positioned as the only outfitter based directly in the Banff townsite, making it exceptionally convenient for visitors to access their horseback riding experiences, sleigh rides, and backcountry lodge adventures. Their operations extend into the pristine wilderness surrounding Banff, including remote backcountry locations where they maintain two lodges:
Sundance Lodge and Halfway Lodge, both situated deep in the unspoiled mountain terrain accessible primarily by horseback or, in winter, by cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.
Guide engaging narrative trail rides on overnight trips up to 6 days in length.
Efficiently perform general barn duties and chores.
Maintain a high level of care for our horses (groom, saddle, fit).
Demonstrate initiative and adaptability.
Assisting guests throughout their stay at multiple locations.
Interact with guests in a fun professional manner- at our lodges and when in the saddle.
Minimum of 5 years horseback riding experience (Western preferred) is mandatory.
Previous seasonal work experience is preferred.
Strong customer service experience.
A strong interest in the Western lifestyle.
Valid First-Aid certificate.
