Seeking an experienced Station Hand to join the team at Iffley Station. Working amongst a fun and hardworking station crew on a Brahman breeding operation in the Gulf of Carpentaria, QLD.
Only single male accommodation available. All female accommodation is filled.
No dogs.
Situated 160 km south of Normanton and 240 km north of Julia Creek, Iffley lies on both the Saxby and Norman Rivers. Iffley employs around 14 people to run this well-established breeding station that is half sandy forest and half open plains. Iffley's diverse terrain means it performs well in most seasons and carries about 20,000 breeders. Well-located for social purposes, the Iffley calendar includes the Saxby Roundup, Normanton Rodeo, Mount Isa Rodeo, and the Croydon Poddy Dodgers Festival.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Mustering on horseback and 2-wheeler motorbikes
Processing cattle in cattle yards
Branding and castrating
Horse care
Fencing (new replacements and old repairs)
General watering point maintenance
General service on motorbikes
General vehicle maintenance
Weaner education
Manual driver's license
Competent experience mustering using horses
Competent in riding a 2-wheeler motorbike (preferable)
Clean and tidy habits
Polite and friendly nature
Willing to lend a hand and gain new experiences
Willing to work in a team but also individually
Willing to listen and act on instructions and advice given
Comfortable with starting work early and working in the heat
