The role is located at the Hunter Regional Livestock Exchange (HRLX) facility.

Regional Livestock Exchanges (RLX) is a leading agriculture organisation with core strengths of Infrastructure Management, stock handling and sales services, our operations are located throughout the eastern seaboard.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the movement of livestock within the facility.

  • Assist both Prime and Store cattle deliveries.

  • Undertake the feeding of livestock.

  • Assist in various sale day activities, including pre-sale scanning of livestock, post-sale weighing,   and delivery for cattle sales. receiving, drafting and mouthing cattle.

  • Reconcile animals sold and delivered.

  • Engage in general livestock handling and husbandry

  • Assist with accounting and administration of sale day activities as required.

  • Coordinate, organise and complete the general cleaning and maintenance of the site, with a focus on weekly cleaning of cattle facilities.

  • Comply with and conduct regular animal welfare checks.

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Site Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in livestock handling and sale yard processes.

  • Commitment to and understanding of animal welfare and safe work practices in a sale yard environment.

  • Ability to undertake manual activities and meet the physical demands of a sale yard working environment.

  • Capability to take direction, follow policies and procedures, and work well in a team or unsupervised.

  • Effective communication skills with various stakeholders, including staff, customers, agents, and contractors.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to operate all types of farm machinery

  • Ability to weld and safely operate various hand held tools
