Farm Overseer | Boorowa | NSW

Job Description

Margan Pastoral runs a cattle and Merino sheep enterprise in the Boorowa region of NSW. We farm with regenerative and biodynamic principles — we genuinely care about the land and the animals, and we’re building a team that shares that.

We’re not hiring a resume. We’re hiring a person. If you’re the kind of person who notices things before they’re told to, takes care of what’s in front of them, and is honest when something goes wrong — we want to hear from you. We can teach the rest.

THE ROLE

  • Livestock experience is essential.

  • Lead day-to-day station operations — livestock, land, infrastructure, and a small team.

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager on grazing plans, grass budgeting, and seasonal priorities.

  • Maintain records using Maia, Sapien, Jotform, and Safe Ag Systems (training provided).

  • Supervise and develop station hands.

  • Oversee infrastructure maintenance: fencing, water systems, yards, and machinery.

  • Ensure WHS compliance and biosecurity standards across the property.

Property Type

Farm (Livestock)

Property Description

Margan Pastoral operates across three properties — Hanaminno, Little Plains, and Bonnie Doone — in the Boorowa region of NSW, spanning approximately 5,000 hectares of productive pastoral country.

Across the entire operation we run beef cattle, sheep, and pigs, all pasture raised using regenerative and holistic grazing principles. Our focus is on working with the landscape rather than against it — building soil health, improving pasture diversity, and increasing the biological resilience of the land over the long term.

This is farming with purpose and a long-term view, and the people who thrive here share that same connection to country and commitment to doing things right.

Start Date

8 June 2026

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

You'll assist with the day-to-day station operations across our cattle, Merino and terminal sheep enterprises — managing livestock movements, breeding programs, and animal health while keeping one eye on regenerative pasture and land outcomes.

On the infrastructure side, you'll oversee fencing, yards, water systems, machinery, and buildings — planning maintenance and improvements and keeping everything running safely and efficiently.

You'll lead a small team of station hands and contractors, providing mentorship and hands-on training, and work closely with the Operations Manager on grazing plans, grass budgeting, and farm development.

A commitment to WHS, biosecurity compliance, and good record-keeping (using Maia TruTest, Safe Ag Systems, and Jotform) is expected as part of the role.

Job Requirements

This role suits someone who is:

  • Reliable. You show up. Every time.

  • Honest. You say what’s happening on the ground, good and bad.

  • Self-directed. You don’t wait to be told what needs doing.

  • Respectful. To the animals, the land, and the people around you.

  • Curious. You want to understand how and why, not just what.

We need a solid foundation in livestock and farm work. We don’t need a perfect resume. Previous overseer experience is great but not essential if your attitude is right and you’re ready to step up.

Job Benefits

  • On-site accommodation available.
  • A property that practises what it preaches on regenerative agriculture.

  • Real responsibility from day one.

  • Genuine mentorship from an experienced operations team.

  • Meat rations (when available)

  • Education, training, and associated expenses (as needed)
