We’re looking for a new team member with livestock-handling skills and a genuine interest in learning all aspects of feedlot operations, with a strong focus on animal husbandry.
As part of our feeding and livestock crew, no two days will look the same - your work will be hands-on, varied, and rewarding.
Our business is a diverse family-owned feedlot, backgrounding, breeding and farming operation located one hour drive north of Emerald in Central Queensland.
We have a strong customer focus and pride ourselves on offering professional feeding services.
We supply beef onto Australian supermarket shelves and major export markets. Our organisation has grown rapidly over the last 5 years and is now in a new expansion phase.
Daily tasks include:
Pen riding checks for sick or injured animals
Maintain accurate records of animal health and treatments
Operate and maintain various types of machinery
Working collaboratively within a small team environment
Yard work – drafting, processing, inducting, and health treatments
General livestock checks
Feeding livestock (tractor and loader operations)
Monitoring water and feed systems
Basic pen maintenance
Skilled in low-stress stock handling
Confident with livestock in both yard and paddock work
Horse riding skills and minimum of two of your own working horses (with saddlery) suitable for feedlot work are essential
Able to work independently and within a team
Reliable and committed to long-term work
Practical and adaptable
Sound understanding of cattle welfare and low-stress stock handling techniques with an ability to identify sick cattle and treat cattle health issues
Physically fit & capable
Confidently operating machinery
Ability to work in the mornings and rotational weekendCar licence with own vehicle
