Cooper Creek Pastoral Company operates a remote agricultural property in South-West Queensland and is looking for an experienced and versatile Station Cook to join the team as soon as possible.
The property is near Durham in the Shire of Bulloo, west of the township of Thargomindah, QLD.
We're looking for a reliable Station Cook to feed staff and contractors, with numbers fluctuating during mustering. Day to day you'll be responsible for:
Preparing meals required for station staff and visitors
Catering for stock camp crews and contractors during peak periods
Planning menus around weekly freight deliveries and managing food stock, ordering and rotation
Maintaining kitchen, cold room and dining area to a high standard of cleanliness and food safety
Keeping the homestead and staff quarters common areas tidy
Catering to dietary requirements where needed
Full set-up of the dining area before each meal, and complete clean-up afterwards
Previous experience cooking for groups — station, camp, mine site, pub or commercial kitchen all considered
Excellent food safety and hygiene knowledge (Food Safety Supervisor certificate advantageous, or we can arrange training)
Able to plan and work within the constraints of remote supply
Self-sufficient, and comfortable living and working in an isolated setting
Current driver's licence (manual preferred)
Happy to work as part of a remote small live-in team
Comfortable running the kitchen end to end, from ordering, managing supplies, food prep through to washing up and putting away
Competitive wage in line with the Pastoral Award 2020, negotiated on experience
