Station Hand | Karalee Plains | QLD

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Station Hand to join our professional cattle operation at Karalee Plains, Central Queensland.

The role will involve mustering, processing and trucking cattle, fencing, checking waters, lick runs, general property maintenance and machinery operation. The successful applicant will have a strong focus on animal welfare, ideally have experience working with cattle and horses, and be confident working both independently and as part of a small team.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Experienced with cattle and low-stress stock handling

• A confident horse rider with mustering experience

• Experienced with machinery and basic maintenance

• Self-motivated, reliable, tidy and safety-conscious

• A current manual driver’s licence holder; truck licence highly regarded

• A positive team player with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of station life

Karalee Plains is a productive cattle property located in the Taroom/Wandoan district of Central Queensland, approximately 60 km east of Taroom. The property forms part of Willinga Pastoral Co’s Queensland pastoral operations and is situated in a well-established cattle grazing region.

Karalee Plains is productive grazing country, with fertile Brigalow Belt soils and improved pastures supporting cattle production. The property has traditionally been utilised for cattle backgrounding and is part of a broader beef operation.

• Mustering, processing and trucking cattle

• Cattle handling using low-stress stock handling practices

• Fencing, checking waters, lick runs and general property maintenance

• Operating machinery and assisting with basic machinery and equipment maintenance

• Working both independently and as part of a small team

• Maintaining a high standard of animal welfare and property presentation

• Following all Health and Safety policies and procedures

• Assisting with other station duties as required

• Experienced in a similar station hand role — previous experience is favourable but not essential

• Passionate about animal welfare and committed to maintaining high standards of livestock care

• Experienced working with cattle, with low-stress stock handling experience highly desirable

• A confident horse rider with experience mustering cattle

• Experienced operating machinery, with basic mechanical and maintenance skills highly regarded

• A current manual driver's licence; truck licence highly regarded

• Comfortable working in accordance with Health and Safety policies and procedures

• Self-motivated, reliable, tidy and enthusiastic

• A team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude

• Willing to get involved and contribute to all aspects of station life

Pre-employment requirements include an Australian National Police Check and pre-employment medical assessment.
