Paraway Pastoral Company is seeking an experienced Senior Station Hand to join our team at Old Bundemar Station, near Warren and Trangie in the Western plains region of NSW.

Covering 22,370 hectares, Old Bundemar is a diverse property with access to the Macquarie River for irrigation and has a strong cropping history complementing the merino ewe flock and trade cattle operation. This role is integral to the day-to-day management of the property, supporting the Station Manager to:
Contribute and assist with the day-to-day management of livestock operations, including cattle and/or sheep
Assist with the implementation and manage livestock production programs (breeding, joining, calving/lambing, weaning, marking, shearing, drafting)
Monitor animal health, welfare and condition, including identifying and treating injury or illness
Guide, direct and support stock staff, providing clear direction, training and mentoring
Plan and execute livestock movements, paddock rotations and grazing programs
Maintain accurate livestock records, including treatments, weights, NLIS movements and inventories
Support compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity and workplace health and safety standards
Assist with mustering, yard work, trucking coordination and property maintenance as required
Work closely with the Station Manager to achieve production, financial and operational targets
Assist with the direction of contractors and seasonal labour during peak operational periods
Monitor pasture availability and stocking rates to optimise land and livestock performance
Contribute to continuous improvement of livestock systems and station practices
Hands-on experience in livestock management, ideally with highly productive, intensive and extensive merino sheep production systems
Strong safety leadership and people leadership management skills, with the ability to mentor, motivate, and build a positive team culture
Practical knowledge of grazing systems, animal health, pipe and trough water systems
Previous experience and or a willingness to take on responsibility for all areas of irrigation management of the 170ha lateral and 220ha boarder check irrigation asset to help produce high quality pasture and grazing crops
A proactive and organised approach, balancing day-to-day operational needs with long-term planning and financial decisions aligned to the approved budget
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with staff, contractors, suppliers, key consultants
A commitment to animal welfare, safety standards, and sustainable land management practices
Mechanical aptitude and sound skills in maintaining and managing station infrastructure, plant, equipment good level of fencing experience
Enthusiasm to contribute to the success of a leading Merino stud and to develop your career in station management across intensive/extensive grazing systems, dryland and irrigated farming
Your own team of working dogs (compulsory)
First Aid, Chem Cert and other tickets are an advantage
