Station Mechanic | Katherine | NT

KD Rural is seeking a station mechanic to join our team for 2026.

You will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a wide range of station vehicles and equipment including:

• Toyota Landcruiser's

• Motorbikes

• Machinery including graders, loaders, tractors and generators

• Kenworth Trucks

• Cattle Crates & Flat Top Trailers

Being able to work independently and problem-solve in a remote setting is crucial. Having good knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs is a plus and having a good work ethic and being reliable is a must. 

KD Rural offer competitive pay, single accommodation and an opportunity to work in a varied, hands-on role in a family run operation. If interested and when able there will be opportunities to be involved in cattle mustering and processing.

We have 2 cattle stations based in the Mataranka area and a trucking depot in Katherine. The choice is yours, if you prefer to stay out of town there is single accommodation at both stations where you can be based. Or if you would prefer to stay in Katherine, we can make this possible too. If based in Katherine, you would be required to do frequent runs out to the stations to complete maintenance and repairs.  

• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on all KD Rural gear. 

• Order parts.

• Travel between stations and Katherine to maintain gear.

• Be organised and reliable.

• Work as part of a down-to-earth station team where no two days are the same.

• Own tools are required.
