We are seeking a Head Stockman to lead the team at Carpentaria Downs Station, QLD

Carpentaria Downs is the core of the breeding operation, focusing on the production of high quality, productive, quiet and confident beef cattle. The company has a strong focus on looking after our animals, land and people utilising a mix of traditional knowledge, values and cutting-edge practice. Located 300kms North West of Charters Towers on the Einasleigh river running Angus Cross breeders.
Full time head stockman role
Strong work ethic with solid understanding of operations including waters, fabrication, machinery and fencing
Lead, mentor and support others
Cattle mustering and yard work with a strong level of stockman ship and attention to animal welfare with the use of horse and bike
Maintain a clean, safe and well kept work and living environment
Contribute to planning and execution of maintenance and capital improvement programs
This is not suitable for Visa holders
Current manual driver’s license (HR/MR advantageous)
Strong communication skills with management, contractors, and staff
Physically fit and capable of working long hours in remote and variable conditions
Strong horsemanship skills and/or competent quad/bike operation
Sound knowledge of animal welfare, low-stress stock handling, and NLIS requirements
Ability to plan and coordinate mustering, drafting, branding, weaning, and trucking
