We are seeking a reliable and experienced MC Licensed Cattle Truck Driver / Machinery Operator to join our team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong livestock transport experience who takes pride in safety, animal welfare and maintaining high operational standards.
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of livestock between Lillyvale and Arubial Pty Ltd properties, and processors. When not carting livestock, the successful applicant will assist with machinery operation and general property duties as required.
Weekend work may be required on an as-needed basis.
Arubial Pty Ltd, situated on the Western Darling Downs QLD, operates as a family-owned feedlot, Fullblood Wagyu stud and dry land cropping aggregation, trading as Lillyvale Feedlot and Arubial Pty Ltd. Livestock Transport
Drive and maintain a Kenworth T909 Prime Mover
Cart livestock safely and efficiently between properties and processors
Safely load, secure and unload cattle in accordance with animal welfare standards
Monitor livestock condition during transport and take appropriate action if required
Comply with the Australian Animal Welfare Standards & Guidelines for Land Transport of Livestock
Adhere to strict biosecurity
Coordinate with livestock staff regarding loading plans, timing and route planning
Vehicle Operation & Compliance
Operate heavy vehicles
Conduct daily pre-start checks and ensure vehicles comply with road transport standards
Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery dockets and livestock documentation
Comply with fatigue management and WHS requirements
Follow load restraint guidelines for livestock
Report vehicle faults, damaged equipment, incidents and injuries promptly
Maintain clean, tidy and compliant trucks at all times
Animal Welfare & Biosecurity
Ensure livestock are handled calmly, utilising low stress stock handling
Maintain livestock crates and equipment to required welfare standards
Machinery Operation (when not transporting livestock)
Operate loaders, tractors, excavators, bobcats, graders and other machinery as required
Assist with general property and road maintenance duties
Use company weighbridge systems to weigh heavy vehicles
You will be a motivated, safety-focused individual who can work independently.
Essential Requirements
Current MC Truck Licence
Minimum 2 years’ experience transporting cattle
Experience operating heavy vehicles in agriculture
Strong understanding of livestock handling and welfare standards
Knowledge of fatigue management and road transport compliance
Ability to work unsupervised
Professional work ethic and mature approach to the workplace
Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable
Previous feedlot or livestock production experience
Loader or machinery operating experience
Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
Understanding of NLIS, NVDs and livestock traceability systems
