The Station Storeperson/ All Rounder is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Station Store, ensuring the efficient management of stock, cooking takeaway food, and retail sales that support both station operations and customers.
Out of Station Store operating hours, the role will also support general station activities as an all-rounder. This may include assisting with light domestic duties such as cleaning accommodation, basic gardening and grounds maintenance, feeding animals and other tasks as required to support the smooth running of the station complex.
Murray Downs is approximately 400km north of Alice Springs, 40km east of the Stuart Highway.
The station comprises 559,500ha on the lower Barkly Downs Region of the NT.
Store Operations & Customer Service
Provide friendly, professional customer service to customers.
Process retail sales accurately using the store’s point-of-sale system.
Maintain a clean, organised, and well-presented retail environment.
Assist customers with product enquiries and purchases, ensuring a positive store experience.
Stock Control & Inventory Management
Receive, check, and correctly store incoming deliveries including fruit, vegetables, pantry goods, frozen items, and general store supplies.
Monitor stock levels and notify management when items require reordering.
Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO) to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
Maintain accurate stock records and assist with regular stocktakes.
Food Preparation & Kitchen Duties
Prepare and cook takeaway hot food three days per week in accordance with the station store menu.
Follow safe food handling and hygiene practices when preparing and serving food.
Ensure kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils are kept clean and sanitised.
Monitor food stock levels and advise when ingredients require restocking.
Fuel Handling
Safely manage and monitor fuel sales in accordance with station procedures and safety guidelines.
Record fuel sales accurately and report any discrepancies or maintenance concerns.
Ensure the fuel area remains tidy, safe, and accessible.
Store Maintenance & Cleanliness
Maintain cleanliness of the store, cool rooms, freezers, and surrounding areas.
Ensure displays, shelving, and storage areas are organised and stocked appropriately.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures in all store operations.
General Station Support
Outside of store operating hours, assist with general station duties as required.
Support light domestic tasks including cleaning accommodation rooms, basic gardening and grounds maintenance, feeding animals, and other general station activities.
Work Health & Safety
Follow all station workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Report hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to management promptly.
Use equipment safely and maintain a safe working environment for staff and customers.
Preferred experience with some or all of the following: Stock Control & Inventory Management; Store Operations, Food Preparation (cooking); Maintenance/ Cleaning; WH&S
Ability to work well alone or with others (communication skills)
