Job Description

This is a full-time, onsite Feed Mill & Maintenance Manager role, responsible for overseeing feed production, mill operations, and property-wide maintenance.

You’ll take ownership of the feed mill, ensuring feed is produced accurately, efficiently, and on schedule while also managing maintenance across machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.

This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who is both operational and practical. Someone who can manage systems, troubleshoot issues, and step in to get the job done when needed.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

Feed Mill Operations

  • Oversee daily feed production, ensuring rations are mixed accurately and delivered on schedule.

  • Monitor feed quality, consistency, and stock levels of ingredients.

  • Coordinate feed distribution in line with operational requirements.

  • Maintain feed mill systems, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions quickly.

Maintenance & Equipment Management

  • Manage preventative and reactive maintenance across plant, machinery, and equipment.

  • Carry out mechanical repairs, servicing, and fault-finding.

  • Maintain workshop, tools, and equipment in a clean and organised manner.

  • Ensure all machinery is operating safely and efficiently.

  • Coordinate external contractors where required.

Operations & Team Support

  • Work closely with operations and livestock teams to ensure alignment across feed and maintenance.

  • Support and guide junior staff where required.

  • Maintain clear communication around priorities, issues, and timelines.

  • Take ownership of tasks through to completion.

Safety & Standards

  • Follow and promote safe work practices across all areas.

  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures and site requirements.

  • Maintain a high standard of organisation, cleanliness, and presentation across work areas.

Job Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on maintenance experience.

  • Previous experience in feed mill operations, agriculture, or similar (preferred).

  • Ability to diagnose faults and problem-solve effectively.

  • Experience operating and maintaining machinery and plant equipment.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Confident communication skills and ability to lead by example.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role (feed mill, maintenance, or agricultural operations).

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on capability.

  • Open Driver’s Licence.

  • HR Licence (advantage but not essential).

  • Willingness to undertake further training if required.
