We are currently seeking an experienced Livestock Health Supervisor at our Smithfield Feedlot near Proston, we welcome someone with a strong understanding of feedlot operations and excellent leadership skills.

Smithfield Cattle Company is a family-owned, values-driven cattle and farming operation based in Southern Queensland. We operate a 20,000-head feedlot near Proston and a 24,000-head feedlot near Goondiwindi, alongside various grazing and farming operations.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and review the cattle health program in consultation with our Livestock Manager and Feedlot Veterinarian.

  • Assist with training of the livestock team in cattle handling and health treatment processes following best practice.

  • Work with management on the organisation of rotational grazing and the management of our backgrounding cattle on our grazing country.

  • Management and supervision of the Livestock team, with an operational hands-on approach.

  • Organise, plan, and implement work schedules and manage labour requirements.

  • Maintain accurate record keeping with a high emphasis on data integrity and quality. 

  • Ensure company standards of animal welfare and WHS responsibilities are met.

  • Implement company policies and procedures to maintain a high standard of professionalism.

  • Communicate effectively with all

Job Requirements

  • High level of cattle handling and horsemanship skills.

  • Familiar with feedlot software program Elynx (FY3000 & StockaID).

  • Experience in leading a team.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • Ability to keep track of and report on activity.

  • Strong record keeping skills.
