Whyalla Beef is seeking an experienced Head Stockman to lead our pen riding team at our large commercial feedlot, located 25km from Texas in southern Queensland.

You’ll be working at Whyalla Beef, one of Australia’s largest and technically innovative feedlots. With a current capacity of 75,000 head. Located in the Southern Downs, 25km northwest of Texas on the Queensland / New South Wales border. The town of Texas is perched on the banks of the picturesque Dumaresq River.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong horsemanship, cattle handling experience, and the ability to lead by example.

• Lead and support the pen riding team

• Monitor cattle health and welfare

• Assist with drafting, processing and treating cattle

• Maintain high standards of low-stress stock handling

• Oversee horse allocation and rider capability

• Work closely with the Livestock leadership team to maintain high animal welfare outcomes

• Strong horse riding and cattle handling experience

• Previous experience in a senior stockman or pen rider role

• Confident leading and supporting a team

• Practical, reliable and safety-focused
