Mantuan Downs Station is located between Springsure and Tambo, and is approx. 2.5 hours south of Emerald, near Carnarvon National Park. Mantuan Downs has approximately 18,000 head of cattle and is a large-scale cattle breeding & backgrounding property covering 134,000ha. Country ranges from large areas of brigalow/wilga/bottle tree scrub to open downs, soft forest hollows and areas of lighter forest and ranges.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cooking tasty, wholesome meals for around 12–15 station staff (plus the occasional guest)

  • Planning menus that keep things fresh, varied, and satisfying

  • Managing grocery lists and ensuring supplies are always stocked

  • Keeping the kitchen, dining area, and food storage clean and organised

  • Looking after kitchen equipment and keeping everything in top shape

Job Requirements

  • You’ve cooked in a similar role, ideally for live-in teams or large groups

  • You love creating quality meals that people genuinely enjoy

  • You’re organised, proactive, and great at managing your time

  • You understand food hygiene and kitchen safety

  • You take pride in doing things properly and safely

  • You’re keen to embrace the unique lifestyle of a remote station

  • You bring a positive attitude, energy, and fun to your work
