Assistant Feedlot Manager | Condamine | QLD

The Assistant Feedlot manager is responsible for performing the day-to-day operations of the feedlot, to ensure cattle performance, animal welfare, workplace safety and operational efficiency are maintained to a high standard. Property Description

  • Family owned and operated backgrounding and feed lotting operation located at Condamine.

  • The feedlot operation is licensed to feed 1,000 head and is NFAS accredited.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Bunk call, feed allocation & delivering ration

  • Administering animal health treatments and monitoring animals’ wellbeing

  • Commodity monitoring and forcasting

  • Mill maintenance

  • Maintaining accurate daily records in feeding and livestock management system

  • Mustering cattle

  • Livestock husbandry, including inducting, drafting and processing cattle

  • Loading cattle onto trucks

  • Machinery operation

  • Fencing and infrastructure maintenance

  • Maintaining a tidy workplace, vehicles & machinery

  • Providing maintenance on vehicles & machinery

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in feedlot

  • Understanding of cattle nutrition, health and animal welfare

  • Ability to demonstrate low stress stock handling

  • Strong organisational and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and use initiative

  • Competent in operating machinery and equipment

  • Effective communication and leadership skills

  • Current driver's license (essential)
