Wellclose is ACC’s second largest property group with just over 590,000 acres across 8 properties, situated approximately 2 hours from Charleville and is one of ACC’s busiest and productive properties running up to 20,000 head of wagyu-cross breeders and backgrounders.

The property is in great shape and has had some significant development projects including fencing, water infrastructure, land regeneration and pasture renovations. Wellclose offers unique exposure to develop your cattle station knowledge, skill and experience, working with different livestock types, handling cows, calves and backgrounders across a variety of landscapes and pastures that involve different methods of stock work.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

Station hands do a range of activities that include:

  • Cattle handling & processing using low stress handling techniques

  • Mustering and moving cattle on horseback and 2-wheel motorbike

  • Horse care and feeding

  • Safe operation of vehicles, tools and equipment

  • Accurate collection and recording of data

  • General station activities such as fencing & basic maintenance

Job Requirements

Along with being permanent residents, candidates must be trustworthy and reliable operators, who take pride in their work, are committed to doing a quality job and always prioritise their own and others’ safety and the welfare of our livestock.

  • Positive attitude

  • Solid work ethic

  • Willingness to learn and have a go

  • Non-negotiable commitment to working safely

  • Current and valid manual drivers licence

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team

  • Sound physical fitness and agility that enables you to safely undertake physical aspects of the job

  • Australian/NZ permanent resident with unrestricted working rights
