Job Description

Meacham Contracting Australia is seeking three experienced Seasonal Machinery Operators for upcoming agricultural development, paddock preparation and seeding programs across the Northern Territory.

These roles are suited to reliable, easy-going operators who can work confidently, take pride in maintaining equipment and are comfortable working long hours (12 hour shifts) in remote conditions.

Immediate and upcoming seasonal work is available, with the potential for ongoing employment for the right people.

You will be living and working on a large broadacre farming enterprise south of Katherine, NT.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operating agricultural machinery for paddock development and preparation

  • Offset discing and speed tilling

  • Fertiliser spreading and spraying

  • Operating air seeders and precision seeders

  • Operating JCBs and telehandlers

  • Using Trimble and GreenStar GPS systems

  • Completing daily pre-start inspections

  • Carrying out basic servicing and machinery maintenance

  • Keeping machinery clean and in good working order

  • Working safely and efficiently during 12-hour shifts

Job Requirements

Applicants should have experience operating some or all of the following:

  • Case Steiger tractors

  • Offset discs

  • Speed tillers

  • Fertiliser spreaders

  • Sprayers

  • Air seeders

  • Precision seeders

  • JCBs or telehandlers

  • Trimble or GreenStar GPS systems

You will also need:

  • Solid agricultural machinery operating experience

  • Confidence operating equipment without basic refresher training

  • Basic mechanical knowledge

  • An understanding of daily servicing and pre-start requirements

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • A reliable, practical and easy-going attitude

  • The ability to work 12-hour shifts in remote NT conditions

  • Relevant licences and machinery tickets where required
