Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Wagyu Breeding Property Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a premium Wagyu breeding property.

This is a hands-on leadership position suited to an experienced cattle professional with strong stockmanship, sound breeding knowledge, proven staff management experience and a practical, mechanically minded approach to property management.

The successful candidate will play an important role in managing the breeding herd, property operations and team, while embracing modern technology, accurate data capture and safe work practices.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

Working closely with ownership, the Property Manager will be responsible for the efficient and productive management of the property, breeding herd, staff, machinery and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the Wagyu breeding property

  • Leading, supervising, training and developing property staff

  • Planning and implementing joining, breeding, calving and weaning programs

  • Managing reproductive programs and pregnancy management

  • Artificial Insemination (AI) experience highly regarded, but not essential

  • Maintaining high standards of livestock husbandry, animal health and welfare

  • Accurate recording of individual animal, breeding and production data

  • Electronic livestock identification and data capture

  • Managing staff workloads, rosters and daily priorities

  • Maintaining and operating farm machinery, vehicles and equipment

  • Diagnosing and carrying out basic mechanical repairs and maintenance

  • Managing fencing, water infrastructure, yards and other property assets

  • Pasture and grazing management

  • Working cattle confidently and safely on horseback and by motorbike

  • Maintaining a high standard of property presentation

  • Ensuring safe work practices are followed across the property

  • Maintaining accurate livestock and property records

  • Providing regular operational information to ownership

  • Contributing to genetic improvement and long-term property development

Job Requirements

We are looking for an experienced livestock professional who can combine strong cattle management, people leadership, practical property skills and a strong safety focus.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing a cattle operation

  • Demonstrated experience managing, supervising and leading staff

  • Strong cattle handling and stockmanship skills

  • Experience working cattle on horseback and by motorbike

  • Sound knowledge of breeding, reproductive management and calving

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a practical, hands-on approach

  • Experience operating and maintaining machinery, vehicles and farm equipment

  • Ability to undertake basic mechanical repairs and fault finding

  • A sound understanding of OHS and safe work practices

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace for staff, contractors and visitors

  • Excellent animal health and welfare standards

  • Strong organisational and planning skills

  • High attention to detail and accurate record-keeping abilities

  • Experience with electronic livestock identification and data-capture systems

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with ownership, staff, contractors and external service providers

  • A proactive, reliable and accountable approach

  • A genuine passion for cattle breeding and continuous improvement

  • The role would ideally suit a couple, we are looking for a team orientated couple who are happy to work together and share responsibilities where required
