G L Bowron Australia is looking for a motivated and reliable person to join its team as a Skin Buyer, servicing abattoirs and suppliers throughout Victoria.
This is a field-based position ideally suited to someone who enjoys working independently, travelling throughout regional areas and building strong relationships across the livestock and meat-processing industries.
No previous skin-buying experience is required, with full training provided. Experience within the sheep, livestock, wool, meat-processing or broader agricultural industries would be highly regarded.
Applicants willing to work in Melbourne’s west would be suitable, and we would also consider applicants from as far as Ballarat or Bendigo.
G L Bowron Australia operates within the Australian and international sheepskin industry, connecting locally sourced Australian sheepskins with global markets.

In this role, you will:
Purchase sheep and lamb skins directly from abattoirs
Assess sheepskin quality and value
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
Monitor livestock, sheepskin and market conditions
Assist with purchasing and logistics
Travel regularly throughout Victoria
Represent G L Bowron Australia professionally within the industry
We are looking for someone who:
Has strong communication and negotiation skills
Is honest, reliable and well organised
Is comfortable working independently
Enjoys travelling and meeting people throughout regional Victoria
Holds a current driver’s licence
Has full Australian working rights
Is willing to undertake a pre-employment medical
Has an interest in the livestock, sheep, wool or meat-processing industries
Previous experience within agriculture or livestock would be an advantage, but the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn are most important.
Salary of $90,000 to $100,000, depending on experience
Performance-based bonus
Company vehicle and mobile phone following successful completion of the three-month probationary period
