Head Stockperson | Bulloo Downs | QLD

• We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Stockperson to join our team and lead day-to-day livestock operations at Bulloo Downs Station, Thargomindah.

• This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is confident with cattle, calm under pressure, and committed to high animal welfare and safe work practices.

• Not suitable for 88 days WHV applicants

You will be based at Bulloo Downs Station near the township of Thargomindah in South West Queensland Channel Country.

Gibson Grazing is a proud family owned and operated business with involvement in the beef industry for over 50 years. Their properties are located in Queensland.

The Head Stockman will work closely with station management, taking responsibility for:

• Leading and supervising stock crews during mustering, processing, and daily livestock work

• Planning and executing cattle handling, animal health programs, and seasonal workloads

• Coordinating mustering

• Overseeing fencing, waters, infrastructure upkeep and general station maintenance

• Training and mentoring junior staff with a focus on safety, low-stress stock handling and teamwork

• Maintaining accurate records (NLIS, movements, treatments etc.)

• Managing machinery and equipment to a high standard

• Contributing to property improvement and pasture management programs

• Proven experience in a senior stock role – Head Stockman, Leading Hand, or similar

• Strong cattle knowledge

• Confident leadership capability with the ability to train and support staff

• Sound mechanical ability and practical problem-solving skills

• Good communication and organisational skills

• Ability to work safely and uphold our standards

• Motorbikes and handling of station plant essential
