Job Description

  • Milwillah is seeking a highly motivated Wyseby Assistant Manager (Couple Role) to join the team at our Wyseby property, located in the Rolleston region, Queensland. 

  • This is a full-time, practical role ideally suited to a couple with experience across livestock management, broadacre cropping, machinery operation, and basic maintenance.

  • The role suits people who work well together, plan ahead, take initiative, and can manage the pace and variety that comes with remote mixed farming operations.

Wyseby spans over 18,500 hectares and is located near Rolleston in Central Queensland, positioned between the Carnarvon Ranges and the Arcadia Valley. The property is well suited to breeding and finishing cattle to a high standard and supports year-round livestock and cropping operations through strong infrastructure, reliable water, and productive grazing country.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager will take meaningful day-to-day responsibility for station operations and contribute to a safe, productive team environment. The partner role provides station support across administration and property upkeep, with optional involvement in livestock work.

  • Support and participate in day-to-day livestock activities including mustering, herd health, paddock rotations, breeding programs, and data recording. 

  • Lead seasonal cropping programs and activities including land preparation, sowing, spraying, and harvesting. 

  • Lead water runs, fencing programs, and general infrastructure upkeep. 

  • Coordinate work across a small team, including station hands, casuals, and contractors. 

  • Assist with mentoring and training station staff to build capability and consistency. 

  • Operate and maintain a modern fleet of John Deere machinery including tractors, sprayers, and headers. 

  • Perform routine servicing, basic mechanical work, and troubleshooting on plant and equipment. 

  • Maintain accurate records of livestock movements, chemical usage, paddock history, and equipment servicing. 

  • Implement and model safe work practices aligned with Milwillah’s WHS systems and reporting requirements. 

  • Monitor and manage fuel, stock, and essential station supplies. 

  • Station Support (Partner) 

  • Assist with basic administration tasks and inventory management. 

  • Maintain station grounds, gardens, and staff living areas. 

  • Support domestic duties including general cleaning and upkeep. 

  • Assist with onboarding support and contribute positively to station culture. 

  • Optional involvement in livestock work or mustering where experienced and comfortable. 

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in livestock management (cattle essential). 

  • Demonstrated experience in broadacre farming and seasonal cropping programs. 

  • Strong machinery operating skills, with the capability to lead cropping operations. 

  • Ability to support basic machinery maintenance and seasonal repairs as required. 

  • Sound knowledge of agricultural chemicals and safe handling procedures. 

  • GPS and precision agriculture experience (desirable). 

  • Confident leading, mentoring, and coordinating a small team. 

  • Strong communication, organisation, and practical problem-solving skills. 

  • Competent on two-wheel motorbikes and comfortable operating farm machinery. 

  • Strong understanding of farm safety, animal welfare, and record keeping. 

  • Comfortable using digital farm tools and systems (training provided if required). 

  • Driver’s licence required; machinery tickets and agricultural qualifications are advantageous. 

  • Comfortable living remotely and working both independently and as part of a team.
