A rare opportunity for a capable couple to step into an Assistant Management role on a well-run backgrounding and breeding operation, Binda Station near Bollon, QLD.

This role is suited to a mature, motivated couple ready to step into a leadership role, with previous station experience and the ability to manage operations when managers step away.

  • Immediate start is available, or negotiable for the right couple. (N.B. The role is not suitable for those with children)

  • Both partners required to work, (either both full time or one can be casual).

Gibson Grazing is a progressive Queensland cattle company with multiple holdings across the state.

This 150,000-acre property is located approximately 30 km from Bollon and runs a backgrounding operation with up to 1,500 breeders. The business is known for high standards in animal welfare, land management, and operational efficiency, and offers a supportive but professional working environment.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

The successful Assistant Management Couple will report directly to the Station Manager and work alongside one full-time Station Hand and the owners.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assist station management with cattle, property and staff management.

  • Conduct daily cattle operations including mustering, processing, and handling backgrounding and breeder stock (2-wheel bikes only).

  • Carry out general station maintenance including fencing, pipework, and water monitoring.

  • Operate station machinery and support smooth, efficient station operations.

Job Requirements

  • Previous cattle station experience; leadership experience preferred but not essential (step-up candidates encouraged).

  • Experience working with young staff.

  • Mature, hardworking, and motivated with a strong initiative and work ethic.

  • Ability to thrive in a rural environment and work well within a small team.

  • Capable of teaching and training others while balancing being approachable and authoritative.

  • Can do attitude & willingness to learn
