“Glenross”, located near Millicent, the heart of the highly productive south-east region of South Australia, is seeking a qualified diesel mechanic or mechanically minded Senior Farm Hand to join their close-knit team.
The properties totalling 4500ha, run 10,000 self-replacing Composite ewes plus young stock and 3000 Angus steers. With high stocking rates and rotational grazing, this is a high input and high output farming system.
This is a modern farming business with state-of-the-art sheep and cattle handling facilities and a strong focus on efficiency, productivity, and best-practice management.
As the Mechanic/ Senior Farm Hand, you will play a key role in ensuring all machinery and equipment are maintained to optimum condition.
Your responsibilities will include servicing and maintaining 12 irrigation pivots and pivot engines, Hilux utes, tractors, truck and side-by-side vehicles. With your proven experience you will have access to a fully equipped workshop including vehicle hoist and service vehicle.
Managing spare parts inventory and maintaining an organised workshop will also form part of your duties, alongside assisting with general farm operations when required.
Strong mechanical background, particularly with diesel motors
Ability to work independently and part of a team and prioritise tasks
Practical understanding of modern farming systems
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Enjoys the outdoors and occasional general farm work
